BBQ Rub for Poultry and Pork

Updated: Jan 21, 2021

This is a base seasoning for BBQ chicken, poultry and pork. However, it can go on darn near anything. This is not as sweet as our sweet rub but has similar base. This is a great low sugar rub.

This rub can be used for any cut of pork or chicken. You can even use it on some vegetables such as carrots to lively them up. My kids love anything with this seasoning!

Prep Time: 5-10 minutes

Ingredient List

  • 2 Tablespoons coarse salt

  • 1 Teaspoons coarse black pepper

  • 1 Tablespoon smoked paprika (you can use any flavor preference: hot, mild, sweet, etc. You can also use regular paprika if that’s all you have but the smoked paprika adds a nice touch of smoky flavor)

  • 1 Tablespoon granulated garlic

  • 1 Tablespoon granulated onion

  • 1 Tablespoon brown sugar

  • ½ tablespoon ground mustard

  • Optional: ½ Teaspoon cayenne pepper

Supply List

Instructions

Step 1: Mix all ingredients in a bowl and store in a cool dry place. Use your hands, whisk or fork to break up any clumped brown sugar.

Note: This will stay good in an airtight container for about 1 month but I challenge you not to use it all by then!
